photographing excursions

march 23 through 27 : big bend national park, texas

the area along the rio grande in southwest texas known as the big bend provides mountains, solitude and biodiversity unlike any other place in the united states. the remote location ensures that few people travel here, allowing the ecosystem to remain essentially undisturbed to preserve its unique geologic features. march is one of the best months to arrive in big bend: the temperatures are relatively cool, the skies are clear and most of the low desert is in full color as prickly pear, columbine, yucca and lupine blossoms stand in tsark contrast to the typical green and brown hues of the flatlands. i only photographed a few locations during my short visit there and these images can be found (along with those from my Fall 2007 journeys) in the newimages gallery.
